No Fair!

Hi Everybuddy -

Meeka here. I need to let all of my buddies know what a horrible morning I had! Here I am sulking and ignoring Mom.

It was just awful. I should have known when I saw the cheese come out of the fridge and go into Mom's purse that something was up. Guess who's turn it was to visit the V-E-T? Mine! I didn't even have a chance to hunker down in the back of my crate and refuse to come out. Before I knew it I was sitting in the Jeep. Mom said not to worry - I only need one shot. ONE SHOT?! NOT WORRY??? What's she thinkin?? I sucked it up and decided I'd be difficult when we got into the waiting room. Yeah, that'll show them. I strutted through the front door and of course the girls behind the desk made a big fuss over me (this happens when you're handsome like me). I began to forget about the horrors that were coming. I sat down with Mom and Dad and then it happened.......I was presented with my goodie bag! I know - I love these new perks! A very nice lady walked up, sat down, and placed the bag RIGHT NEXT TO ME. How nice is that? They must really like me there. And what was in the bag? Ohhhhh, clearly they know me well. They know exactly what I like (perhaps a bit too much Mom says). A CAT! It's true - they gave me a goodie bag with a cat in it! Right next to me! I was very excited and stood up very quickly. You won't believe what happened next. MOM MADE US MOVE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM! What a party pooper she is! Then before I could protest it was my turn to go into the room to get poked and prodded. I just can't believe Mom made me miss out on my prize. If that wasn't enough they wanted to clip my nails. Yeah Mom - like cheese will make THAT better! I put up a fight and am very pleased to report that I have a new record. It took 5 people to accomplish the task. Hrrrmph! I couldn't wait to leave. I hope everybuddy else is having a better day than I had.

Tis The Season!

Hi Everybuddy -

It's time to reveal the source of the mysterious photo which appears in my last post. Here's a slightly different view which might provide a bit more of a clue as to what it is:

Give up? It's a bush in front of my house! Doesn't it look spoooooky? Mom's not quite sure how tree lights became a traditional Halloween decoration but she decided to think outside of the box this season. This happens to be our "Burning Bush" which now has some lovely red leaves. The orange lights cast an eerie glow at night so it appears as though the bush really is burning. Very clever Mom! All of this spookiness brings to mind something else that can be quite entertaining. Ghosts.....Woo! Modern technology allows us to ghost hunt without even leaving the comfort of our own homes. Shyla would like to point out that it's a much less stressful way than hunting ghosts in real time. Bravery isn't one of her strong points:

Today we'll share the link to the ghost cams set up in the notoriously popular Willard Library which is located in Evansville, Indiana. For many years there have been reports of many sightings, particularly of their most popular resident - The Gray Lady. Library historians aren't certain exactly who the Gray Lady is. Some believe that it might be Louise Carpenter who was the daughter of the library's founder. When her father passed away he left most of his fortune to the library and not Louise. It is said that Louise now roams the library protesting her loss. Through the years there have been many, many sightings and occurances attributed to Louise - books being tossed off of shelves, faucets being turned on and off, and a strange scent of perfume which sometimes lingers.

You can see some of the questionable views captured on the library ghost cams here. Watch for yourself and let us know if you see her and if you do - tell her Echo said "Woo!".

The Power Of Suggestion

Hi Everybuddy -

Many people that have met me are of course charmed by my unique personality and all agree on one thing - I am very persuasive. Notice that I didn't say "pushy". I'm never pushy.....I just seem to have a way about me that lends itself to encouraging others to do what I want them to do. Take for instance the other day. Shadow had one of my most favorite bones. Mom wanted me to mention that we have MANY Nylabones lying around the house. This one seems to be a particular favorite for all of us. I really felt that Shadow had it long enough so I set out to encourage her to let me have a turn. Here's how it went:

"Shadow - Mom's calling you! Really, she is"

"Shadow - Who's that outside??!"

Okay - so that wasn't too effective. That's when Plan B comes into play:

"I'll just lie here and wait until you're done"

Note the close proximity. The key is to gradually eek my way over into her space. She HATES that!

"Yep! Works everytime!"
