Website Wednesday

Hi Everybuddy -

I'd first like to mention that my visit to the new vet went very well. Although she's just like the rest of em.......not to be trusted! First she comes in the room and makes a huge fuss over how handsome I am and how bewootiful my coat is. Then she gives me a treat at which time I was totally smitten with her, and gave her a Siberian slobbery smooch (which further endeared me to her of course). Then she turns around and sticks me twice with a needle!! GEEZ! I don't get it. She gave me another treat after that so I that made it a bit more tolerable. We kissed again and made up. She's pretty cool I guess. I'm good for another year. It's Shyla's turn next. Have fun with that Shyla!

Tonight's a special night......it's the official lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City. Here it is from a previous year. Isn't it bewootiful? :

This year's tree came from somebuddy's backyard in Connecticut. They watched it grow and grow and one of their neighbor's nominated it to be used for the official Rockefeller Center tree. (Note to the AO4 - you can nominate the bushes that Oswald hides in. If they choose one of your bushes for next year, then he can't hide in it anymore!!!) The tree inspectors visited during the summer and agreed - it was perfect! Of course it's not nearly as spectacular as those found in our own homes, such as Sitka and Tia's bewootiful tree that Sitka supervised. I will be helping with our family tree this weekend. Anywoo - getting back to the subject at paw - Mom knows about this official tree lighting because the ceremony is on television. She found a wonderful website that lists all of the holiday television specials. We almost missed our good friend Snoopy last night but saw the listing at the last minute....whew!

We give the folks that put this website together two paws up!

Meeka's New Bling

Hi Everybuddy - Meeka here.
Echo's still working on his To-Do list so I decided to seize the moment and post my own exciting news. Look what Mom brought home for me! :

Do you see what that says? "Purebred Prince"! THAT'S ME!! I'm very excited because somehow my last blingy crown charm got mangled in one of our Siberian play sessions and some of the sparkly diamonds got lost. Clearly Mom recognizes my royal heritage, which I pointed out to Echo. He's still mad because his "Dude" charm broke. Mom said she's still working on finding another one of them.
I think I hear the creature stirring so off I go! He's going to tell you about his visit with the new vet. HARROOORROO!

It's Card Time!

Hi Everybuddy -
Get those pens and stamps ready - it's Christmas Card time! We just wanted to remind you that MaPaw has some bewootiful Christmas Cards available in their store. Do you recognize this festive mug?
Yep! That would be me! Do you see what Mom and Dad made me do? I wasn't really singing a pretty song - I just wanted to get out! But Mom explained it was for a good cause so I was a good sport. Anywoo, take a peek at the MaPaw store and browse all of the great cards and designs.

My To-Do List

Hi Everybuddy -

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We thoroughly enjoyed our day and as usual, were properly spoiled since Mom and Dad are so thankful they have us. Dad is especially grateful this year since he would never have been able to accomplish all that he has on his home destruction projects without us. We had our favorite Merrick canned food ........

........ Thanksgiving Day Dinner - for dinner mixed in with our Canidae, some diced turkey and one of our favorites - peas! It was so delicious!

As you can imagine, I had some important things on my agenda for today. Mom was busy with her to-do list which was going through dusty boxes pulling things out with bells and prickly green things. This was me hard at work on my to-do list this morning:

And this was me further down on my to-do list this afternoon:

All these chores have me exhausted. I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight which is probably a good thing since I get to meet our new Vet tomorrow for my annual check-up. I'll want to make a good impression and have her see my sparkly personality.

Happy Thanksgiving

When we count our many blessings,
It shouldn't be hard to see,
that life's most valued treasures
are the treasures that are free.
For it isn't what we own or buy
That signifies our wealth,
It's the special gifts that
have no price:
our Family, Friends and Health.

Our New Award!

Hi Everybuddy -

Today is a proud, proud day! Look what the AO4 presented us with:

"The Community Blog Award celebrates people who reach out and make the blogger community a better one. It also underlines the importance of a blog's readership community, one of the most rewarding parts about blogging. It's the people that come back to comment, adding to the conversation, making you feel like someone is listening and interested."

Thank Woo! We are most definately flattered and would like to pass this award on to Marley & Ziggy and also to Cosmos & Juneau. Congratulations!

Paws I've Filled

Hi Everybuddy -

Have any of you noticed the new photos on the right sidebar? That's Merlin! That's who I was named after. For those of you who aren't familiar with the story of how I came to be , Merlin really started it all for my family. He was a Lab/Husky - 95 pounds of personality and a massive stubborn streak. When you saw him outside in the sunlight you could see his beautiful Siberian markings. They endured his antics for many years until they had to say goodbye. Mom said the silence really was deafening when he left. It was a very long time before she could even look at his photos again and his collar and tags sit on a special shelf in her bedroom. She loves all of us very much but I'm "hers" and she quickly recognized that there was something different about me. That's how I became Merlin's Echo. Without even knowing it I seemed to step into his paws. His special place was in the powder room. No other doggy ever willingly went in - except me. She frequently finds me curled up in Merlin's corner. She said Merlin approves of me and I'm very proud of that. I must be doing a good job of wreaking havoc. So take a look, and congratulate Mom for figuring out how to use her new scanner. Technology is a challenge for her sometimes!

Siberian Power Tools

Hi Everybuddy -
It's the weekend again and you know what the means. More home destruction! Dad doesn't seem quite as enthusiastic about it as we do for some reason. It'll be okay because we're here to help. Look what appeared this morning.......TOYS! By the looks of the pictures on the box, I'm thinking Adrill might be in there. We needed to check it out. Meeka decided since he's been working on his observation skills he should go first:

"Hello in there! Anybuddy home?"
Clearly he needed some asssistance so I stepped in (literally):

"Wait....I think I see him! Whoa - That's not Adrill!"

"Excuse me, but have you seen Adrill?"

We don't see any sign of Adrill but we're quite certain this must be a distant relative of his. Doesn't it look like great fun?? Mom muttered something about the health insurance card and bandaids. I have no clue what she means by that. Plug it in Dad! Let's saw something in half!!! We can start with that silly mouse ears hat that poor Sky's Mom is chasing them around with!

Just Sharing

Hi Everybuddy -

Today Mom received a mailing which contained the following statement. She thought it was definately worthy of sharing:

The following is Senator George Graham Vest's closing argument in 1869 at a trial in which a man was charged with shooting "Old Drum", his neighbor's dog. The man was found guilty within minutes and was reportedly required by the jury to pay damages in double the amount originally asked for.

"Gentlemen of the Jury: a man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard against danger, to fight against his enemies, and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death."

How very true.

Nap Day

Hi Everybuddy -
This will be a very short message since we're EXHAUSTED from this weekend's home destruction project! Since Floor Guy didn't want our help we got CRATED! The first day was tolerable but the second day....well.....we did NOT appreciate it. I fussed and fussed and fussed and howled and fussed and fussed and fussed and dug and dug and howled and fussed and fussed some more! Serves them right! This was what we looked like after we got sprung from our jail cells:

I didn't even bother to wait for Mom to find the right spot for the dog beds. I just kinda plopped down and both of them and that was that. We should be sufficiently rested by tomorrow which is good because we've got to break in the new dust mop (insert evil howl here).

He's Baaaack!

Hi Everybuddy -

Today was the big day. Floor Guy was coming back again! Meeka was excited to get started on the big project so he volunteered for lookout duty. He figured this would also sharpen his AO4 mission tactics:

"Nothing yet......"

"Movement detected....front and center!"

Finally he arrived! Unfortunately Mom said he opted not to take on any assistants today so we had to go upstairs. That was okay though because we got some yummy peanut butter Kongs out of the deal. After a nice long nap and a few Animal Planet episodes it was time for the official inspection:

"Not bad for no husky help!"

"Woo! Slippery!"

We're pretty impressed. We've learned we can't run real fast and sharp turns seem to be out of the question. He'll be back tomorrow to finish. Stay tuned!

To Honor A Hero

Today, Philadelphia is mourning. A devoted family man who was merely doing his job was murdered last week. Officer Chuck Cassidy unknowingly walked into an armed robbery and was immediately shot in the head. He died the next morning, surrounded by family and friends. His killer has been found and has confessed.
Many of us do not live in the City of Philadelphia, however we should let this sad moment remind us that those in law enforcement put their lives at risk everyday to keep us safe. They don't earn alot of money and rarely if ever complain. They do it because they want to do it. The sacrifices made by their families are incredible. Please remember the Cassidy family and all of those in law enforcement tonight.

SNOW??????

Oh my dogness! Can it be?? We've crossed our paws and we've tried to be good huskies. Could it really happen??

LOOK:

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow. Highs in the mid 40s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.

Pennsylvania might get the first flakes of the season and you all know they're the tastiest! We'll be watching and waiting!

More Home Destruction

Hi Everybuddy -
It's been busy here at my house. We knew something was coming because Mom started packing stuff in boxes. We didn't think we were moving so that meant another home destruction project. This is getting a bit old. All this work is exhausting! Every time we turn around Dad needs us to help with another project. This one was a bit different though. Look where we ended up!
"HEY! What's the big idea??"

"Woo! I see sharp things."

Dad mentioned something about nails, tacks, and feety feet. Ouch! We decided we'd wait until the coast was clear. Eventually he couldn't go any further without us so he sprang us:

"Watcha got there Dad?"

It was time to rip out the old carpeting so Floor Guy can come and put in our wood floor! Dad needed some help with the pulling and tugging. That's a Siberian specialty so I jumped right in to assist:

Shyla provided lots of encouragement so Dad wouldn't give up:

"Good job Dad!"

Meeka was concerned:

"Nobuddy asked me whether we should chop the carpet into pieces."

"I've worked hard to get it smelling like that!"

"Here I am! Who needs another picture of Meeka....do me instead!"

Here's Shadow helping. She's worried her chair is going out next:

"I'm not movin!"

The most important task finally came. Dad assigned it to me of course since I'm the official floor tester. It was time for the sit test:

"It's a bit hard and not smelly but it'll do."

And so ended Day #1 of our new Home Destruction project. Stay tuned for updates. Bring your dust masks! I heard Dad mention something about bunnies in the house. Whew! It's a good thing we get an extra hour of sleep tonight. This is hard work!
