Website Wednesday

Hi Everybuddy -

It's that time of year again. It's HOT outside! Sadly, Mom has been noticing many cars in parking lots with pets inside. This reminded her of a website that we featured last year called My Dog Is Cool, but it's an important one and we think it would be beneficial to feature it again. We suspect that those visiting our blog are quite pet savvy and know how dangerous it is to leave a pet in a parked car. This website would be helpful in suggesting ways to respond and educate those that may not be aware of how dangerous it is. We can't imagine anyone would purposely bake their beloved pet so this leads us to believe some people simply don't realize how quickly their vehicle becomes an oven. The facts and figures speak for themselves and can be seen here. It's pretty alarming. A study at Stanford University indicated that even on what humans might consider a cool day such as 72 degrees, the inside of a vehicle will skyrocket to 116 degrees within an hour. Keeping the windows open slightly makes very little difference at all. That would also put your pet in danger of being stolen which is another very real danger. The statistics are bleak and the risk is great. Please spread the word to anyone that might not be aware. Flyers can be ordered or downloaded here and you can get a graphic for your blog or website here. Together if we can save even one pet from dying a horrible death, it's worth it. Tell them Echo sent you!

Very good information, Echo. We don't have A/C at our house, so Mom's been worrying about us getting too hot in our crate during the day since she doesn't leave windows open when she's not home. So she bought us a fan that blows on us. It's just like sticking your head out the car window!

WOO WOO Echo,

we are so happy your Mom is soo smart and putting this information out for everyone to read. We have been whining to our Mom because since it has gotten hot we can't riding with her on her errands because she says it's too hot in our crates in the car but we don't like staying home either but your Mom is right - we don't want to cook.
MY mom is going to try and put a link on our blog to your blog so everyone can read this information information, especially us furry coated kids.

People that leave their pets in the car when it's this hot make me mad! I love going for rides, but when it's this hot I am totally fine with staying home with the ac.

That is really bad. Why would humans leave their pets in the car when they won't even stay in them without the A/C on?? We will be sure and pass the word...

Hi-Woo Echo,

Those people who leave animals in a hot car need to be stuffed in a hot car, windows up & no AC themselves to see how it feels - those people are stupid!!!! It's been very muggy around our area wif a lot of rain, Rain, & MORE RAIN!

Keep cool!

Great PSA (puppy safety advice). Momma would never do that to us but sometimes she has to explain that she leaves us home for our own safety.
