Out With The Old

Hi Everybuddy -

Something very strange happened at our house today. Just as quickly as all the shiny, blinky, smelly things arrived - they were hauled out. Go figure! I was just getting used to the shrub in the living room. Imagine our surprise when Mom came down to tell us that they were busy "taking the tree down". Huh?

"Ya mean the prickly green shrub??!"

Whadya mean "taking the tree down"?? I wasn't done inspecting the ornaments yet! I don't get these holiday customs at all. Why in the world would a human drag a tree inside the house, go to the trouble to hang all sorts of stuff on it, give it water everyday, take pictures of it (like it's going to do something different than it did 10 minutes before!) then lug it back outside?? I had to see for myself:

"Yup. There it is.....alone and cold"

Sure enough. There it was. Alone on the front lawn. Alone and getting pelted by ice pellets. Oh yeah - that seems to be all we're getting instead of snow nowadays. Ice pellets. You know, the kind that hit you in the side of the face while you're trying to do your outside business. Anywoo.......everything was gone! Our stockings were gone. The shrub was gone. The tiny Santa's sleigh filled with tiny wrapped gifts was gone. Mom told us we had something important to do for the next couple days. Something about New Year's Revolutions.

"What's YOUR New Year's Revolution?"

Guess we've got some thinkin to do.

Big Day Report

Hi Everybuddy -

What a great day we all had yesterday! Santa Paws sure did know exactly what we wanted. After all my mischief he still made me one of the happiest Sibes around! You just won't believe what he left me. Take a look at this:

"Hey! There's somethin in there!"

"Santa Paws uses ALOT of tape!"

"OH MY DOGNESS! It's a new "DUDE" charm!"

Mom just can't believe her eyes! Neither can I. If you recall, she bought me my cool "DUDE" collar charm awhile ago and somehow it got mangled and finally broke. She has looked and looked for a new one and couldn't find one. That Santa Paws is amazing! I am now a cool Dude once again and that makes me very, very happy! But that wasn't all. We each got a new Nylabone:

And I think we're set for treats for awhile!

"Look at that! He knew just what we love!"

And then we moved on to a very large box from Mom and Dad. We have many beds scattered around the house that we all enjoy but there's one in particular that is our favorite. Mom has been so impressed with how we take turns snoozing on it and never fight over it. Now we have two!

Yes, the day was so much fun! Shyla understands what it's all about now and had such a great time. She was exhausted from all of the excitement and took a nap later in the afternoon:

I leave you with a video of Meeka doing one of his most favorite things.....shredding paper.

We're very impressed with his sorting technique. Mom's working on teaching him how to sweep it up when he's finished.

We hope everypup had as wonderful a day as we did and can't wait to hear all of your reports!

Something Worth Sharing

In light of the holiday season, we felt the following video clip was worthy of sharing with our friends. You might need a tissue! It's truly from the heart and reminds us of some very important things. It's easy to get lost in the decorations, the pretty paper, and the latest, coolest toys this time of year. Reminders of what it's all about can be a good thing. The following is a description of what you're about to hear:

Added: November 09, 2007
(A FrankLozano.com Production) We have had a lot of requests to replay the phone call that Pastor Mike shared during our church service on Sunday, Nov. 11th, 2007. Here you'll find the video clip that was created just for you. We've placed the video on YouTube so that you can watch it and share with family and friends.Logan is a 13 year-old boy who lives on a ranch in a very small town in Nebraska. Logan listens to Christian Radio station 89.3FM KSBJ which broadcasts from Houston, TX. Logan called the radio station distraught because he had to take down a calf . His words have wisdom beyond his years.Since airing the audio of the phone call and now the making of the video clip, it has taken on a life of its own. People are forwarding it all over the world. We encourage you to share the love of Christ with anyone you can.

A Message For The Evil Reindeer!

Hi Everybuddy -

We must band together and spring into action! The evil reindeer (these would be the ones ejected from Santa Paws's sled team) have dog napped our dear friend and Trooper - Amber! You can read the official report here.
I have a plan. Here is my message to the Evil Reindeer:
Dear Evil Reindeer -
I have your cousin:
I also have his antlers in case you're wondering. If you want to see him intact and in one piece again, return our friend Amber NOW! If not, your cousin could meet a horrible fate. Take a look:

Do you see this face? Does it look like I'm kidding? Don't underestimate my cuteness!

"Bring Amber back NOW!"

The Quest For Snow

Hi Everybuddy -

We've had 2 near misses now. That would be 2 reports getting us very excited and prepared for the glorious white stuff. We got nothing but ice and smush. I set out to find my own snow. And I did! In our old photo albums. Look:

Maybe Santa Paws will bring us some snow. In the meantime, please scroll down and sign my new guestbook. Mom says it'll help her keep track of who's where. Geography isn't her strong point.

Where's The Snow??

Hi Everybuddy -

Here we are......playing in the snow!

Yeah. Did you notice something missing? S-N-O-W! We got that nasty, slippery, let's watch Echo trying to walk on the ice stuff.

I'm thinking we're going to have to nix the sled we're wishing for to consider figure skates instead. Can you just see me in figure skates? That's just wrong. I do have to agree with Mom though. It is pretty. Take a look:

I think it's time to learn the lyrics to "Let It Snow". Maybe that'll help.

Betty Crocker Shyla

Hi Everybuddy -

Today was a fun day for Shyla. She learned about Christmas baking! There's a strategy that goes along with that as any clever Siberian knows. The goal is to be in the right place at the right time. This is all new to Shyla. Take a look:

"Woo! What's going on up there??"

"That looks like SNOW!" Can you drop some down here please?"

"OHHHH! Look at those!!"

And where was I you might ask? WELL - this is just SO wrong! Take a look:

Yep - I was on the opposite side of the gate! The side away from the cooling racks. Wrong, wrong, wrong! Mom muttered something about trustworthiness, whatever that might be. I think the tree needs inspecting now.

The Days of Christmas - by Echo

For your listening/reading pleasure, I have modified a popular Christmas Carol:

"On the first day of Christmas I plucked off the tree.....a reindeer with loose antlers."

"On the second day of Christmas I plucked off the tree - a sparkly nativity sceeeeene."

"On the third day of Christmas I plucked off the tree - a Moose who needed dusting."

"On the fourth day of Christmas I plucked off the tree - a Santa who was quickly PUT BACK!"

Okay - that's it so far. Mom's quite sure more will follow shortly.

"Its' not easy being me!"

I GOT MAIL!

Hi Everybuddy -

Oh my dogness! I GOT MAIL FROM THE BIG GUY! Look:

This is so exciting! It also means that I have to try my hardest to be extra good because apparently he's really watching. Yikes. Mom couldn't figure out how to get the letter to show in it's full size so in case you can't read it, here's what it says:

Dear Echo -

I've been checking my list and then I had my elves check it twice and I see that you have been a good boy this year!

I know you are four years old and getting so big! Even though some days it has been difficult to be a good boy I see that you have tried very, very hard. This is why the elves and I have made something special just for you! So try very hard to be as good as you can til Christmas!

Since I don't have time to write to every little boy and girl on my list please remind your Blog friends to be good as well.

I will soon be on my way to visit your house in Pennsylvania. I am excited to begin my long journey to the home of the many good little boys and girls around the world.

Merry Christmas and Warmest Wishes!

I'm so happy that he realizes how hard it is for a Siberian Husky like myself to be good all the time. Things tend to go wrong sometimes but it's okay with him. I was a little worried! Did you see how he mentioned all of you too? It's almost time!

I Help Decorate

Hi Everybuddy -
We've been very busy decking the halls here at home! Mom loves to decorate and makes sure everyone pitches in. That meant me too of course. There's lots to be done! Here's Shyla helping Dad inspect the lights:
"I believe there's a bulb missing there Dad"
After that, my assistance was required to decide whether the bead garland was shiny enough to put on our bewootiful tree:

All of these decisions are enough to make a Siberian's head spin! It's a good thing we're known to be calm and cool under pressure. Finally it was done. Doesn't it look pretty?

Do you see Shadow on her throne admiring our hard work? You can also see Shyla's gigantic poofy tail there on the bottom of the photo. Silly girl!
A little while later Mom noticed something missing. How does she know all of this??!!!!???
Look:

Yeah, yeah.....that's a bare spot. You're right Mom. Something was there. ::sigh:: I decided to help out. Ornament inspection is not a job to be taken lightly and I discovered we may have missed one. Take a look:

That's a reindeer. Do you notice something funny about him? Something's missing and IT WASN'T MY FAULT!
I believe that would be his antlers. Just because they were found on the bed that I happened to be lounging on does NOT mean that I'm responsible. At first I went the route of saying not all reindeer have antlers. Guess what? Apparently they do. That's dumb and very inconvenient at a moment like this. I believe Mom has some gluing to do. She needed another project anyway. We wouldn't want her to feel as though she wasn't needed. So Mom - You're welcome! Whatever would you do without me??

Busted!

Hi Everybuddy -

NEWSFLASH! The Perfect Prince is BUSTED! Oh my dogness you just won't believe your eyes! As you may have realized by now, it is I who is the most.....shall we say......adventerous. I'll admit that I do tend to get into trouble now and then. I prefer to think of it as a direct result of my brilliant Siberian curiosity. Take a look at this:

Do you know what that is? That's the brand spankin' new floor moulding that Dad installed! WOOOOOO........somedoggy is in T-R-O-U-B-L-E! But who could it be? There are 4 of us after all. Look where it came from:

Do you see where it came from? Do you know who's crate that is? It's MEEKA'S! Now take a look at this:

CRUMBS.....on the Prince's blankie! Can you believe they STILL thought it was me????? I'm SO insulted! Mom found the piece lying on his blankie and still couldn't believe Mr. Perfect was responsible. Dad said I must have planted it there. ::SNORT:: The nerve! The Prince almost got away with it untillllllllll.................our girl caught him red pawed ripping it right off the wall AGAIN! BUSTED! I've been vindicated. I'd say our Prince is going to need some legal counsel to get himself out of this one. Mom looked at him with a very shocked expression and said "MEEKA! Did you do this??!". Dad was almost proud of his little convict. This is just wrong. Take a look at him. Do you see any remorse in that face??

That's okay Meeka. Who's gonna get coal in his stocking now? Harrrooorooroo!!

.......and the stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

Hi Everybuddy -

We just LOVE this time of year! Each day brings a new adventure. That's a wonderful thing for a Siberian Husky you know - we thrive on adventure. In fact if there's no adventure looming.....we have a tendancy to make our own. Do you remember this special post? Our Grandmom wanted to make sure Santa Paws knows just who's stocking is who's. (Meeka claims that's important because I won't get anything good since I get into too much trouble), but I know it's because Grandmom wanted to make our Christmas stockings very special. Since Mom bought those bewootiful stockings before Shyla had come to live with us, she had to wait until this season to get one for Shyla. When she found just the right one, Mom & Dad shipped it right off to our Grandmom so she could work her magic. Mom didn't want to hang any of the stockings until Shyla's was ready. She said Shyla probably never had a "real" Christmas and it was important that we show her how it works now that she's a member of our pack. Guess what happened this morning? Look:

That's Dad! He's measuring the mantle. He needed to move all the hooks because there's one more stocking to hang this year - Shyla's! Does this mean it arrived and it's time??! Oh my dogness! Look what the Mail Guy brought! :

It's mail for Shyla, and it's from Grandmom! Can you guess what was inside?

"Thank Woo Grandmom!!"

It's perfect! Mom suspects that Shyla never, ever had a stocking of her very own. She probably doesn't even know who Santa Paws is. She didn't really even know what food was when she first came to visit. This will be a very special Christmas for our bewootiful Shyla.

Meeka was very happy to see the rest of the stockings:

"It's the most wonderful time of year!!"

" Maybe there's something left over from last year!"

It's official! Santa Paws is coming!
