I Object!

Hi Everybuddy -
All this obedience stuff has my Mom thinkin. When she thinks, that's never a good thing! Now she wants to try to get us to walk nicely on lead. YEAH RIGHT! Apparently the obedience instructor pointed out some training options to her after class. Oh great. So now, she's inspired. This morning she went online to see other things that might work. Look what she found:

Okay, let's take a closer look at this. This products says it's a "STUBBORN DOG SYSTEM". Look what's on the box! I'm not sure I like this! In my opinion, stubbornness is a sign of intelligence. Why should we get zapped for that? We're free thinkers. We do what's right (most of the time)! Perhaps whomever designed this box needs to do some breed research. How about putting a Lab's picture on that box? I've seen Labs gaze under the sofa for quite some time waiting for the ball to roll back out. That's "stubborn" isn't it? Or how about the dog next door that barked for hours at the new photograph of his boy in a cap and gown? That's stubborn right? And I've never met a cat that's not stubborn. I think this box should have a cat's picture on it. I believe this is discrimination! HARRRMPH! For the record, she's not considering what's in this box. She said we don't have a "need" for that. I just had to share my opinion on what I saw.
Anywoo, this leads me to the original purpose of my post. Check out the poll Mom has added to the sidebar. She thinks this will help her decide which training tool to use. (Pssst......click "other". It'll completely throw her off!)
All this thinkin makes my head spin.

Hey, Echo. We didn't get enough votes! Let's run down the list of the training tools we've had to use. First we used the choke collars. That worked good for Kat except for her pulling, but didn't work for Steve at all. So Steve got a prong collar. That still doesn't really work. (Steve is what you call Stubbornly Smart.) Then Kat got a Gentle Leader headcollar. That kept her from pulling on the leash, but she still doesn't heel. I think Mom and Dad have given up on getting us to heel as long as we don't pull!!

We forgot to mention that whenever Steve has to wear the Gentle Leader, he just does somersaults in the grass trying to get it off, so we don't get very far on walks!

What is a training tool? I have never heard of such a thing!

I can't believe those stupid humans would put a Siberian on that box! Siberians would run through that stupid fence and not care if it zapped them or not. Helloooooo!!! No fence, run run run run run run......Duh!

Tell your Mom, (IMO) the fence is a bad idea. Everyone knows that Sibes are independent thinkers. If you go outside the boundary and get zapped, what is you motivation to go back home and get zapped again?

Sorry, we just read the post again and had missed that your Mom not thinking about using this. Just illustration of using the wrong model. But my point still stands for those who think about using this thing.

What an insult....I've noticed they always have husky pictures on those "difficult" dog products.

Steve & Kat - My Mom said she'd settle for no pulling. I didn't like our new Gentle Leader either. It's stupid. I just sat down and refused to move. How's that for no pulling?!

Holly - I'm with you!

Tasha - We know some Sibes who do well with an electric fence buy my Mom just laughs when thinking what we'd do.

Kelsey Ann - And what's up with the picture of the Sibe pup I always see on the heavy duty puppy training pads?! I'm really getting insulted.

Training tools? You're going to have to work harder - we train THEM, not the other way around!!

Guinness hated her Gentle Leader too. She fought it so hard she almost hurt herself. We never pull at dog school, but we try everywhere else. heh.
