On Being Patient

Hi Everybuddy -

It's that time again. Time to uncover grill! This is one of our favorite times of the year. One time I found that little silver cup that hangs underneath and catches all of that slimy, gooey, black stuff. OHHHHH was that good! Mom says it was a Kodak moment when she saw my face and paws. Let's just say Dad wasn't thrilled. Anyhoo......Grill watching requires some strategy and more than a little patience. When Dad takes the cover off, we know good things are about to happen. It's time to take our places! See how I make it look like I'm napping in the shade?

This position takes some practice to make it believable. How clever am I? I'll pretend I'm asleep and before you know it, something yummy might drop down right in front of me! The trick is for Dad to not want to bother me by asking (okay...telling) me to move. It never takes long before Meeka sees what I'm doing. He's not as sneaky as I am so he has to take cues from me.
See:

Dad has gotten pretty good lately and nothing hardly ever drops. But it's worth the wait. Just in case.

Hi, Echo! Shiloh here. Wow, grill uncover day certainly sounds like a treat. You are certainly clever and stealthy. We try this technique anytime mom & dad get out the cheese. They like cheese and we like cheese. I am not patient when it comes to cheese however - I practically crawled on top of mommy last time. The power of cheese compells me!!! Guinness & Misty do not understand the power of cheese like I do.

I'm not real good at being patient either. Must be a Sibe/Mal thing!

And, if you humans were nice, they would GIVE you some of those grill goodies!

Have you gotten anything your dad dropped yet?

Grilling is a good time, but our dad remembers that he's annoyed with us everytime he grills. You see, we chewed the starter off the grill, so now he has to use a fire gun. (I think it's called a lighter.) He doesn't stay annoyed for very long because we sit on the outside table and watch and then he pets us and says we're cute.

I always check under our grill when we go sit under the deck. First thing. Then I grab Zim by the neck and throw him around for a while. It's our tradition.
